New England Musicians Resource Fund Marks 5 Years of Empowering Freelance Musicians Across the Region

Arlington, MA – The New England Musicians Resource Fund (NEMRF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is proud to mark its five-year anniversary in 2025, continuing its vital mission to provide essential resources and support for freelance musicians throughout New England. Since its inception, NEMRF has been a lifeline for musicians facing a wide range of challenges, including income loss, illness, mental health struggles, legal concerns, and barriers to accessing vital local and federal benefits.

"As we reflect on the past five years, we’re not just looking back at what we’ve done—we’re energized by what’s to come," said NEMRF leadership. "While we may not have thought of our work as revolutionary, the impact we’re having on the lives of musicians across New England is undeniable, and we’re more hopeful than ever about what we can accomplish in 2025 and beyond."

In 2024, NEMRF distributed over $80,000 in financial relief grants to freelance musicians in need. The organization also launched the Musicians of New England series to celebrate the region’s exceptional musical talent, hosted its inaugural NEMRF Talks workshops focusing on business and legacy planning essentials for musicians, and established the Alyssa Daly Fund to support a colleague facing colon cancer.

"Our mission has always been about more than just providing financial relief," said a NEMRF representative. "We’re building a network of support through legal services, mental health resources, and professional development opportunities to help musicians not only survive but thrive in their careers."

As NEMRF heads into its next chapter, it remains dedicated to expanding its reach and providing even more support for freelance musicians in 2025 and beyond.

"We're grateful for the support of our community and for the opportunity to continue serving the artists who bring music to life across New England," said the team. "Your recognition of the power of music—and the musicians who create it—helps ensure that the resources and support they need are always within reach."
