Our Musician of the Week is the fantabulous Vanessa Holroyd. Every time she plays the flute, she creates joy! Here's what she's been up to in the before times - and now.

THEN: A juggling act with kind of an addictive variety of activities paired with lots of driving: Family (which is its own crazy show), running Music Management Inc. out of a Belmont office, producing events complete with Can Can dancers, custom poet stations, and often a side of aerial champagne service, teaching, chamber coaching and gigging of all flavors.

NOW: Adapting to "COVID" school pods, re-positioning Music Management Inc. to an all-remote model run out of an antique hutch in JP, Facetime teaching, making friends with solo rep, shedding all shame to record / perform wherever, whenever...and longing for the day when winds, brass, percussion and strings can all be at the same indoor party!

HOPE: We will all continue to take care of each other even more when we emerge from this COVID haze and, in the meantime, we just allow ourselves to do what we need to do. As the late, great Mary Oliver wrote “You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves...." (from Wild Geese)
