Nicholas Brown
THEN:
A rising star, clarinetist Nicholas Brown was taking Boston by storm. Just a few years out of school, Nicholas had already won positions with the Boston Lyric Opera and the New Bedford Symphony. In addition to those groups, he filled his concert calendar with Odyssey Opera, Opera North, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and many more.
NOW:
Nick was just about to open a run of Bellini’s Norma with the Boston Lyric Opera when concerts were cancelled due to COVID-19. He shifted to virtual teaching and has taken on students at the North End Music & Performing Arts Center and Natick Public Schools. He also joined the mixed chamber music group, Hub New Music, as clarinetist/bass clarinetist. He has been incredibly lucky to have been able to continue performing through recorded concerts, commission projects, and virtual residencies, but he misses the live audience!
HOPE:
Nicholas and colleague Alyssa Wang have been hard at work planning the debut of their new organization, Boston Festival Orchestra, planned for July 2021. Their mission is to provide Boston’s summer community with high quality programming and world class performances. They cannot wait to make waves at their first concert on Saturday, July 17th, and are most looking forward to a revitalized Boston arts scene!
